Momo, Tango and Shandy are some of the cats who were at a cat cafe in the Aeon shopping mall in Kumamoto when the powerful earthquake struck.
Parts of the mall's second floor collapsed and people were forced to flee the building, but the 25 cats remained.
But on Wednesday, the cafe owner was given permission to enter the building and retrieve the cats, all of whom were unharmed.
The pets have now been taken to Hiroshima in western Japan, where the company has another cat cafe.
“We were worried that they would be tired after the long journey from Kumamoto, but after arrival, all the cats received individual care,” the company said.
34 people have been confirmed dead in the earthquake that struck Tuesday on the southern island of Kyushu.
