Sjursen is a student at the University of Louisiana Monroe and has never competed on either the LPGA Tour or the European Tour. But the blue-and-yellow amateur will be thrown into the deep end in the first week of June when she faces the world's elite in the US Open at Riviera Country Club outside Los Angeles.
Sjursen won her qualifying round by one stroke, finishing one over par after 36 holes. LPGA Tour pro Frida Kinhult finished eighth and missed out on qualifying for the year's second major.
Six Swedes have already qualified for the US Open: defending champion Maja Stark, Linn Grant, Madelene Sagström, Anna Nordqvist, Ingrid Lindblad and Meja Örtengren.
