It was during the night towards Tuesday, local time, that the roof of a nightclub in the capital Santo Domingo collapsed during an ongoing concert. Three days later, many families are still waiting for news about the fate of their missing relatives.
I'm exhausted and I'm going crazy because of everything I've seen, says Esperanza Dominguez to the news agency AFP.
She is searching for her relative's face among the pictures of the dead distributed to identify the victims, but so far in vain.
Others, like Yuni Garcia whose brother died at the club, are waiting for a body to bury.
The wait for the bodies is dreadful, she says to AFP.
The authorities established the final death toll at 221 people on Friday. A total of 189 have been found alive in the rubble.
A video taken inside the popular nightclub, with a capacity of up to 1,700 guests, shows how it suddenly becomes pitch black, followed by crashing sounds and screams.
