According to Dagens ETC, which was the first to report on the information, the evacuation was carried out by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in collaboration with organizations on site in Gaza. The evacuation took place via the Kerem Shalom border crossing to Egypt, writes the Ministry for Foreign Affairs to TT.
This is one of several evacuations that have been carried out recently. It's extremely difficult circumstances since there are so many difficult conditions in Gaza, says Maria Malmer Stenergard to Ekot.
She does not comment on who the individuals in question are.
"I'm sitting on the bus that will take us to Jordan. We are 20 Swedes. The battery is almost dead", wrote one of the individuals to Dagens ETC at lunchtime on Wednesday.
The evacuation with the help of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs is the second in order since May 2024 when Kerem Shalom was closed. In March this year, six Swedes were evacuated.
Since the war began on October 7, 2023, after Hamas' large-scale terrorist attack on Israel, over 620 Swedes have now left Gaza. A smaller number of Swedish citizens may still remain, according to the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
