Fire brigade and ambulances were on the scene of the accident late on Friday evening. Images from the scene show how fireworks exploded almost at ground level along the banks of the Rhine river.
The police are investigating the accident and assume it is an accident, reports the public service company ZDF. One theory is that it is a matter of a overturned launching container which made the fireworks burst at low altitude.
The condition of the injured is unchanged, states the rescue service and the police. Of the 19 injured, four have serious injuries. In addition, a child is said to have suffered burns.
