At the Canadian championships, she struck with a super race on 400 meters freestyle, and set a world record with a time of 3.54,18.

I knew that my training has been really good in the past few months and that I would be able to do something special. I felt strong throughout the entire race, says McIntosh after the record according to Sportsnet.

I noticed the audience and the way they cheered for me that I was probably close to the world record so I tried to really push the last bit for them.

Australian swimmer Ariarne Titmus was the former world record holder with a time of 3.55,38.
