All the crimes are alleged to have been committed remotely between 2023 and 2025. The victims are in several countries. The soon-to-be 19-year-old man, who lives in the Umeå area with his guardians, is being sentenced despite his denials.
In the judgment, Umeå District Court notes that the prison sentence is very severe for a person who was 15-17 years old when the acts were committed.
His defender, Emily Tovedal, is surprised.
"I am surprised that the district court is ruling on large parts of the indictment. It is also an extremely severe sentence, especially given his young age in connection with the alleged acts," she says in a text message to TT.
“Understood the seriousness”
Prosecutor Jenny Östling had requested twelve years in prison, and she thinks the court reasoned in much the same way as she did.
It is clear that the district court has embraced and understood the phenomenon that we usually call violence-promoting misanthropy and that the district court has understood the seriousness of these groups, she says.
Östling also welcomes the fact that the ruling has tested the question of whether it is possible to commit violent crimes remotely.
We have previous rulings in the area of sexual crimes where it has been determined that sexual crimes can be committed remotely by the perpetrator. This will be a valuable tool in similar cases in the future.
Notable knife attack
The man is being convicted, among other things, of ordering the high-profile attack in Hässelby last year, when a 14-year-old boy stabbed a woman and an older man, while the 18-year-old followed the events in real time remotely.
He is also convicted of causing a girl in Australia to self-harm and attempting to commit suicide. He is also convicted of six counts of rape against the girl.
He has also caused a boy in Germany to hurt himself so badly that the boy almost died.
Violent sect
The verdict includes two cases of attempted murder, one case of aiding and abetting attempted murder, six cases of rape, three cases of aggravated assault, eleven cases of aggravated exploitation of children for sexual posing, twelve cases of aggravated child pornography and five cases of aggravated animal cruelty.
Under the alias "Chai", the 18-year-old is identified as a high-ranking member of 764 - a self-proclaimed online sect with violent and extremist tendencies.
The sect operates in a larger context called "The com", an online environment populated by mostly young people with an interest in violent extremism and hatred.
The self-proclaimed internet cult 764 was founded by then-teenager Bradley Cadenhead in 2021 and is named after his mailing address in his hometown of Stephenville, Texas.
The founder is currently serving an 80-year prison sentence for child pornography crimes.
Young boys and men in several countries have, among other things, groomed, exploited and sexually blackmailed children, carried out several unprovoked knife attacks and at least one murder. At least 50 chat groups are or have been active on the Discord and Telegram platforms, but members have hunted victims on everything from Minecraft and Roblox to forums for people with eating disorders and self-harm.
In countries including the United States, Great Britain, Sweden and Germany, designated 764 members have been sentenced to prison for murder, terrorist crimes and sexual abuse of children.
No Lives Matter (NLM) is an ideological and violence-prone subculture that has been linked to several knife attacks around the world, including in Sweden, and which has close links to 764.
The group advocates extreme nihilism and urges its followers to commit violent crimes to create chaos and destabilize society. Members glorify violence and use social media to spread manifestos and plan attacks, according to Expo.
