Both the prosecutor and the relatives sought to increase the sentence to life imprisonment. However, the Court of Appeal has upheld the 18-year prison sentence for the murder of a female ambulance paramedic last fall.

At the end of September, a 26-year-old man called for an ambulance to Harmånger in Nordanstig municipality, just north of Hudiksvall. When the ambulance arrived, he attacked and fatally stabbed one of the paramedics.

Three days earlier, he had also attacked another ambulance paramedic with a baseball bat.

The district court sentenced him to 18 years in prison, a sentence the Court of Appeal for Lower Norrland has now upheld.

According to the Court of Appeal, despite certain aggravating circumstances, there are insufficient grounds to increase the sentence to life imprisonment.
