1,700 stuck on cruise ship in Bordeaux after norovirus detected

Around 1,700 people are stuck on a cruise ship in the port of Bordeaux, France, after norovirus, which causes winter vomiting disease, was detected onboard.

Around 50 people have shown symptoms of infection, and a 90-year-old passenger has died, according to French authorities. The ship has now been quarantined, and neither passengers nor crew are allowed to leave.

Most of the passengers are British and Irish.
