Through several protests, climate activists tried to stop the disputed peat extraction at Grimsås mosse in Tranemo last year. Now 17 activists are being convicted of arbitrary conduct, reports SVT News West.

All were prosecuted for gross trespassing, of which 15 people are acquitted. Two people are convicted of vandalism, two of trespassing and one of violent resistance.

During the peat actions, activists from the network Restore wetlands blocked ditches and tried to stop machines from working, according to SVT. The goal of the activist network was for the area to become a nature reserve.
