"I can confirm that he is being held in custody in a case being handled by Västmanland District Court and that he has denied the suspicions, as is evident from the detention report," writes lawyer Ville Edström, representing the 16-year-old, in a message to TT.
The arrest of the 16-year-old last week concerned the boy's suspected involvement in the school shooting at Brinell School in Fagersta on Friday, August 21. He was arrested on suspicion of aiding and abetting murder and attempted murder.
In the school attack – carried out by an 18-year-old student at the school – one person was killed, while three were injured.
"The same person has also been detained on suspicion of preparation for murder in Stockholm. In the Stockholm case, he is no longer detained following a decision by the prosecutor, but he is still a suspect there too," the Prosecution Authority writes about the 16-year-old in a press release.
"The suspicions against him remain and intensive investigation work is underway. We are investigating possible connections to other cases but cannot provide any information due to the confidentiality of the preliminary investigation," says senior prosecutor Kajsa Frisk.
