It was during the competition 'Mammoth Mountain motocross' in California that Zingg crashed. The promising driver was taken to hospital, but died of his injuries.

Zingg participated in the national amateur championships in the USA on seven occasions, and won the 85cc class in 2023.

The 16-year-old had recently been recruited to Kawasaki's talent program - Team Green - and was on his way to start competing professionally. Zingg has over 20,000 followers on social media and was sponsored by several major companies.

"Aidan Zingg was the kind of guy who made an impression on you from the first time you met him," writes motocross journalist Donn Maeda on Instagram.

"Rest in peace, buddy".
