He is detained by the district court in Pirkanmaa on probable cause for three attempted murders, reports Swedish Yle.
According to the police, the 16-year-old did not know his victims, who were allegedly chosen randomly during the incident on Tuesday. The boy sent out a manifesto just before the incident, in which he wrote that he had made plans for about half a year to stab girls and then surrender to the police.
The three victims were all under 15 years old. None of them suffered life-threatening injuries.
Charges are to be brought, according to Yle, no later than October 16.
