16 people have been killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza during the night, according to information from the civil defence on Friday morning.
The attacks have been directed at several different areas of Gaza since midnight, says a spokesperson for the Hamas-controlled Gaza civil defence to AFP.
In recent days, Israel has stepped up its military operations and hundreds of people have been reported killed and injured in the Gaza Strip.
On Thursday, Israel ordered the population in parts of northern Gaza to evacuate.
