A 15-year-old boy who shot a 14-year-old classmate in the face in a school toilet is also sentenced by the Svea Court of Appeal to closed youth care for two years and two months. The incident occurred at a school in Huddinge south of Stockholm in September last year.
The boy is sentenced for attempted murder, serious weapons offense and conspiracy to murder. He will also have to pay damages to the victim. The Court of Appeal thus confirms the district court's judgment in February this year.
In interrogations, the 15-year-old has claimed that he shot the 14-year-old by mistake, while the victim, who survived the shot but was seriously injured, states that the shot was undoubtedly intentional.
When the boy was arrested, it emerged from his mobile chats that he had taken on a murder assignment for payment from an unknown person. According to the Court of Appeal, a 14-year-old boy in the same case has made himself guilty of conspiracy to murder. However, that boy is not liable to prosecution.
