The murder took place on March 30, when the man was found seriously stabbed outdoors on a pedestrian path. The injuries were so severe that his life could not be saved.

The 15-year-old boy has been detained, suspected of the murder since the beginning of April. He and the victim did not know each other beforehand.

He has stated that he simply chose to go out and seek out an unknown victim to end his life that Sunday, March 30, 2025, in Norrköping, says chief prosecutor Robert Eriksson.

Filmed the deed

Robert Eriksson says there is a "robust investigation" and a confession.

There are DNA traces from the victim on the defendant's shoes and there are parts of the sequence of events filmed on the defendant's phone.

The 15-year-old thus filmed parts of the deed, but nothing suggests that he was part of any online violence-approving group, like 764 or "No lives matter".

Our analysts have gone to the bottom of it, but we cannot see that he would have been influenced by any such group. He has googled some pages with violence on some occasions, but it was further back in time and we cannot see that it has a connection to the deed, says criminal commissioner and investigation leader Jan Staaf.

No signals

The accused boy has undergone forensic psychiatric examination, and according to the report, there is no suspicion of serious mental disorder. There were also no warning signals from school or social authorities.

It surprised us in the investigation group. We have talked to friends, acquaintances, family, and school, but nothing suggests that anyone had an idea that this would happen. Why he did this is a question that only he himself can answer, says Jan Staaf.
