The attack on a school in the Turkish province of Kahramanmaras was the second such attack in the country in two days.
Six of the injured are being treated in intensive care, three of them in critical condition, according to Interior Minister Mustafa Ciftci. Several students were reportedly injured when they jumped out of windows to escape.
The 14-year-old, who died in the incident, was the son of a former police officer. In a photo on his WhatsApp profile, he allegedly referred to Elliot Rodger - the mass murderer who killed six people in California in 2014 and then took his own life.
On Thursday, Turkish police announced that they had ordered over 80 arrests of people accused of glorifying crimes linked to school shootings online.
