The police in Pakistan have arrested 149 people in connection with a raid on a call center that engaged in fraud, reports the authority NCCIA which investigates cybercrime.
"During the raid, a large call center was revealed that was involved in pyramid games and investment fraud", the authority writes in a statement.
"Through this deceptive network, the public was deceived and large sums of money were collected illegally."
Among those arrested are 78 Pakistanis and 48 Chinese, but also citizens from Nigeria, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Zimbabwe and Myanmar.
