This summer, a man in his 30s shot at the police during an operation. He has now been sentenced to 14 years in prison, according to SVT Jämtland.

It was after the man threatened the Police Authority with “armed combat” via both email and telephone that a raid was launched at his apartment on Frösön in Jämtland. Five police officers entered the man’s apartment and he then opened fire on one of them and tried to fire more shots, but failed.

Prosecutor Tobias Kajbring demanded that the man be sentenced to 18 years in prison for the attempted murder of all five police officers, but the district court chose to sentence him to 14 years in prison for attempted murder.

The man must also pay damages to the police officer whose bulletproof shield was hit, writes SVT Jämtland .

The man described in court that he aimed at the police officer's body and fired his rifle, but that he did so in self-defense.
