Fugees rapper Prakazrel "Pras" Michél has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for, among other things, money laundering and illegal lobbying, Billboard reports.

After the 14 years in prison, 3 years of supervised release await.

Last month, he was also sentenced to pay almost $65 million to the US government.

Pras was first charged with campaign finance violations in 2019, but the case did not go to trial until 2023. He was accused of illegally funneling millions of dollars from a Malaysian businessman to Barack Obama's reelection campaign in 2012, and later trying to influence President Donald Trump and his administration to end an investigation into the businessman.

During the trial, actor Leonardo DiCaprio, among others, was called as a witness due to the businessman's role in financing the film "The Wolf of Wall Street".

Pras has been convicted of all ten counts he was charged with.
