The man behind the record-breaking pumpkin, and now a three-time Danish champion, is Peter Holst Olsen from Næstved, who has written himself into the history books of pumpkins.
Second place went to Ole Christensen from Skanderborg with a pumpkin that weighed a modest 349.4 kilograms.
The previous record from 2024, also held by Holst Olsen, was 1,115.8 kilograms. It was beaten today by 82.2 kilograms, which is starting to approach the world record of 1,278.8 kilograms.
The winner was awarded a cheque for 15,000 Danish kroner, and Peter Holst Olsen says the prize money has already been spent on an expensive microscope.
“You can never skimp on equipment or self-confidence,” he says in a press release from Tivoli.
