Passersby have seen a body lying in the water. Police, ambulance and rescue services are on the scene and work is ongoing.
Update 13.33: A person has been found dead in the water. Technicians are called to the scene, which is cordoned off, to carry out an investigation.
The legal situation is currently unclear and will be determined based on what is found at the scene.
The body has not been identified and therefore the relatives have not been informed.

A preliminary investigation into murder has been initiated due to the discovery of a dead person in the water in Karlstad. Circumstances suggest that it cannot be ruled out that a crime has been committed.
Update August 27, 09.59: The preliminary investigation into murder continues as the circumstances surrounding the death are still unclear. Based on the information that has come to light so far in the investigation, the police consider this to be an isolated incident and not linked to any other case. There is a likely identification and relatives of the person have been informed, but the identity is not yet fully confirmed. Work is ongoing.

There is still no final statement from RMV, the National Board of Forensic Medicine, regarding the cause of death and it is unclear when the final statement will be made.
A comprehensive investigation has been carried out but at present, there is nothing to suggest that a crime was committed in connection with this incident.
