Over the weekend, the traffic police in Region Väst and the Transport Agency carried out an operation targeting the taxi trade in central Gothenburg.
Under this joint authority effort, more than 60 taxis were controlled, of which shortcomings were found in about 20. The shortcomings concerned, among other things, incorrect price information, suspected tax offenses, drivers who drive at the same time as they receive compensation from unemployment insurance/health insurance, and suspected cheating with driving and rest times.
Transportstyrelsen will now go through all the investigative material and work further with the underlying documents. The consequence for those involved can, for example, be a revoked taxi driver's license/professional driving permit. Also, the Swedish Tax Agency has been informed.
The person responsible on behalf of the traffic police is available for any comments.
