Police were called to the scene where a man was alleged to have assaulted a woman and with a knife cut apart the tires of her car. A man who witnessed the event intervened and broke up the assault, which caused the suspect to flee the scene. When the police arrived, the man was gone. The woman who remained at the scene was not found to be seriously injured.

About 30 minutes later, the suspect returned to the scene where he had been driven in a car. The police were then able to apprehend him, as he did not have a knife with him at the time. He is suspected of assault of a normal degree and vandalism. The woman and the man have known each other for some time.

After the interrogation, the prosecutor will decide whether the man should be detained or released during the ongoing investigation
