Ornskoldsvik, in the evening a number of cases of fraud and attempted fraud have been reported to the police in Region North.
Older people in Örnsköldsvik and Piteå have received SMS with information that they, for example, ordered a credit card or goods. The sender has pretended to be a bank or company. The people contacted have been urged to call a phone number if the information in the SMS does not match.
People who have called the number have been told that they have been victims of fraud and have subsequently been connected to a "security department". There, they have been urged to make transfers of money and then delete bank ID.
The approach is similar in all cases, but the alleged sender and content of the SMS have varied somewhat.
If you have called up after such a message, contact the police and file a report.
If you receive this type of SMS and are unsure about its content, do not call the number in the SMS, but call the company or bank's regular contact channels and check the alleged information that way.
