October 29, 13:15, Theft/burglary, Valdemarsvik

Between mid-August and the end of October, the police received 15 reports of thefts from a small area in Gryt, Valdemarsvik. The thefts involved boat engines, gearboxes from boat engines, and break-ins at holiday homes.

The thefts took place from boats at jetties, as well as from holiday homes. The break-ins at holiday homes occurred at the same time as the offences involving boat-engine thefts.

The police urge people to stay alert. What should you look out for? Anything that stands out: a person, a car, a registration number, or behaviour that seems out of place.

Why does it matter? What you saw may be the exact piece of the puzzle the police are missing.

Work with your neighbours to keep an eye on each other’s holiday homes and boats. Check the security of your homes, and don’t leave anything valuable inside or out in the yard.

If you are targeted in a break-in or theft, disturb as little as possible and call the police. This will help ensure the best possible conditions for collecting evidence after you have spoken to us.
