Off-season at the harbour is high season for thieves: Last week, two boat owners were victims of theft at the same harbour in Trosa.
Sometime between October 16 and 23, two boat owners were victims of theft in Lagnöviken in Trosa.
In both cases, the boats were in the water. In one case, a gearbox worth approximately 30,000 kronor was stolen.
In the other case, a gearbox worth approximately 50,000 kronor was stolen. The motorboat and its engine were in the water, and the boat owner believes the thieves tilted the engine up and then lowered it again. However, it cannot be ruled out that the thieves removed the gearbox underwater.
The assessment is that the thefts cannot currently be investigated, as there are no traces or witness accounts.
That’s why we need your help!

And to you boat owners, we’d like to take this opportunity to send a reminder.
It is currently the off-season at the marinas. Boats may still be in the water, and thieves know there aren’t many people around. This makes boat engines and accessories easy targets.
That’s why we all need to work together to prevent thefts.
The most important thing you can do to prevent theft is to make things difficult for thieves.
- Make sure the dock is well lit.
- Mark your expensive accessories and consider using tracking devices.
- Check on your boat berth regularly. Regular inspections are important.
