A motorist is overtaken by an A-tractor at high speed.
The person who contacts the police says that the driver of the A-tractor was driving at around 100 km/h.
A police patrol stops the driver of the A-tractor. They test-drive it and establish that it can be driven at 100 km/h. The police impound the modified A-tractor.
The driver, who is under 18, is suspected of unlawful driving and is picked up by a guardian.
**Rules for A-tractors
**- An A-tractor may be driven at a maximum speed of 30 km/h on the road.
- To drive an A-tractor, you need a licence with AM entitlement, that is, a licence for a class I moped (sometimes called a moped licence), or a tractor licence.
- It is not permitted to modify an A-tractor so that it can go faster than 30 km/h.
- If you drive an A-tractor whose designed maximum speed has been changed, you risk being convicted of unlawful driving, receiving a fine and a licence suspension period, and having your learner’s permit revoked.
- Under certain circumstances, your parents may also be convicted of allowing unlawful driving.
- Above all, however, you put yourself, your passengers and other road users in danger.
