A young man contacted a woman in her 80s, claiming to be from the police and saying he wanted to photograph her gold jewelry.
After the man called the woman, he came to her apartment.
The woman was suspicious of the man and asked him to show identification before she would let him in.
The woman’s vigilance was probably what scared the man, because he said he would go and get his ID and come back. He never returned.
Once again, the police are warning about fraudsters who want to get into older people’s homes and trick them out of valuable jewelry.
The message from the police is: never let strangers into your apartment, never hand over your BankID at someone else’s request, and hang up when someone wants you to log in to your bank.
