One hour – ten wild animal accidents
Under Thursday evening, no less than 10 wild animal accidents occurred within less than an hour in Östergötland County. No serious personal injuries have been registered in any of the accidents. There are also no suspicions of crime in any of the cases. However, several of the involved vehicles suffered significant damage.
When accidents involving bears, wolves, deer, moose, red deer, roe deer, wild boar, moulfon sheep, and eagles occur, the police should be contacted immediately on 112. You are also required to mark the location.
If you lack the orange wild animal accident ribbon, you can use what you have at hand: tonight we have seen plastic bags, trash bags, and reflective vests. The main thing is that it is visible where the wild animal accident occurred.
Marking the location is important so that the search party can find the animal, and to prevent a long suffering for the animal.
How can you reduce the risk of wild animal accidents? Adapting your speed is a crucial part in preventing wild animal accidents. Lowering your speed increases the likelihood of spotting wild animals on the road and having time to react. Many wild animal accidents occur during dawn and dusk, when animals are active at the same time as traffic is intense, as many people are commuting to and from work.
