A general meeting will be held outside Gothenburg University between 10 o'clock and 3 o'clock in the afternoon today, Friday.
Arrangör has sought and been granted permission for the gathering. On the same spot, an unauthorized gathering has been held for a longer period. Since a permitted general gathering precedes an unauthorized one, participants in the latter have been informed that they must leave the location by 6:00 AM.
At this hour, the police set up barriers around the location where the permitted general gathering is to be held. This has been done in accordance with the Police Act's 24th paragraph, to ensure that order and safety can be maintained. When the time limit expired, the police issued an order to maintain order to the individuals who were still present on the location. Those who then chose not to move, will be reported for disobedience against the authorities. According to current reports, it concerns twelve individuals. A handful of these had chained themselves and were taken away by the police.
Just before 6:30 AM, all unauthorized individuals had left the so-called PL24 area. The area has since been expanded.
Update 1:50 PM
A smaller, unauthorized counter-demonstration was carried out parallel to the permitted general gathering. There were no major disturbances to order. Both the permitted and unauthorized general gatherings were concluded at 12:30 PM.
By lunchtime, a total of 13 individuals had been reported for disobedience against the authorities. One of these individuals, a man, was arrested after refusing to reveal his identity. The identity could later be verified at the police station, whereupon the arrest was lifted.
In the morning, a man in his early twenties was assaulted near the location of the general gathering. There are no reports of more serious personal injuries. A report has been filed with a man in his fifties listed as a suspect.
The barriers around the PL24 area were lifted shortly before 1:00 PM.
