Watch out for slippery roads.
Police region east wants to urge caution on the roads due to the fact that it is very slippery in the region in some places.
Slippery roads in combination with many wild animals moving around this time of year - especially in the twilight and dawn - can make traffic difficult. The animals are hard to see and it can be very difficult to brake in the slippery conditions. As a reference, the statistics below are for the past 24 hours.
During the past 24 hours (since 5:00 PM on Wednesday), Östergötland County has had 35 accidents involving wild animals, Jönköping County has had 16, and Södermanland County has had 23. No one has been injured in these.
On snowy road conditions, it may be assumed that one is more inclined to slow down and keep a distance when it is clearly visible that it is slippery. However, there is also a type of what is commonly referred to as black ice. That is, roads that appear dry and normal but are actually covered with a layer of ice.
