Under Tuesday the 12th of November, the police will carry out a planned operation with uniformed personnel in the district of Berga in Linköping.
The operation is referred to as "Svepet" and has previously been carried out in Norrköping in the spring and in Linköping a year ago. The purpose of the operation is primarily to prevent serious crimes, but also to promote safety in the area and engage in dialogue with residents.
The strategy is borrowed from similar police operations carried out in the local police district of Södertälje. The method is one of several in the goal-oriented work to prevent explosions and shootings in the country.
On Tuesday, a larger number of uniformed police officers will work in the area and be visible. Several specialist competencies will participate, such as search and rescue dogs and UAS (drones). The police will conduct extensive searches in buildings, basements, storage rooms, and attic spaces, focusing on narcotics, weapons, and stolen goods. Searches in terrain will also be conducted.
The two previous operations in the region have resulted in several significant seizures.
The operation will be summarized afterwards.
