Västerbotten, a selection of the night's police activity

12:00-7:00 AM, six people have been taken into custody for intoxication, one of whom is suspected of vandalism. The police have also received calls about loud music being played from cars and disturbing residents at Operaplan in central Umeå. The people there have subsequently been asked by the police to leave. Calls about loud music from vehicles have also come from the area around Kronoparken in Umeå, which has led the police to go there for control. Otherwise, the police have checked people and vehicles without resulting in any suspicion of crime.

In other news:

12:45 AM, Umeå

A driver is said to have driven into a car in a parking garage in the city center and then driven away. The police stop the driver for control a short time later. The driver, a man who has re-registered his driver's license, blows positively in the police's breathalyzer and suspicion of drunk driving arises. He is also suspected of gross unauthorized driving. A report is filed.

Summary from Brännbollsyran in Umeå

The police have worked with high visibility and presence in and around the festival area and Umeå's central city districts during the evening. The police's overall experience is that there has been a good atmosphere among the people who have visited the area, despite the weather that has brought some rain.

With an estimated 12,000 visitors, a number of crimes have come to the police's attention, in which cases a report has been filed and investigative measures have been taken.

Some people have been over-served and have therefore been taken into custody for intoxication, some have been handed over to relatives, and some have been handed over to care for rehabilitation.

Considering the number of people who have visited the area, the overall feeling is that it has been a calm evening.

A request from the police side is that people who are picking up festival visitors respect the parking regulations that apply around the festival area. Despite warnings before the festival's start, the police have had to allocate resources to persuade people to move their vehicles that have blocked both the fire department's and the police's emergency routes, primarily along Ridvägen.
