Under Wednesday morning, the police received calls from the general public in the central parts of Karlstad about a break-in at a multi-family house. A man had been observed in connection with the break-in and was confronted before he managed to escape from the scene. The police were dispatched to the scene, searched the area, and took witness statements, but the suspect could not be found there and then. A report was drawn up regarding an attempt at theft and burglary.

A few hours later, at 10:38, new calls came in to the police. The same perpetrator was back at the address and tried to break into the property again before being discovered and fleeing.

A larger search operation was launched, and shortly before 11:00, a dog patrol was able to apprehend and take control of the person. The man, who is in his 30s, is now arrested on suspicion of attempted theft and burglary.
