Several reports of attempts at fraud continue to arrive at the police in Karlstad.
Under late afternoon and early evening, a dozen reports of attempted fraud have been submitted to the police in Karlstad. The modus operandi is similar and the same as the police have warned about several times last week.
The individuals who receive calls are primarily elderly and live in Karlstad. The perpetrator pretends to call from the police and tells the elderly person that there have been several break-ins in the vicinity of their residence. The perpetrator offers to come home and help secure valuable items, which is part of the fraud attempt.
Today, several of the individuals contacted have ended the call, which is the right thing to do. If someone unknown rings your doorbell, demand to see a service ID card or do not open the door.
No authority requests sensitive information such as bank information or phone codes, and the same applies to the police never seeking contact for securing valuable items.
Always contact the police if you have been subjected to an attempt or have been a victim of a crime.
