The police in Värmland have previously warned about scammers contacting elderly people living in Karlstad and its surroundings.

We want to warn once again as the scams are still ongoing. It involves both completed and attempted crimes, and we really want to urge the public to talk to each other about this approach:

The scammers call elderly people and claim to be from the police and tell them that several break-ins have occurred in the neighborhood, and therefore they intend to come to the caller's home and take care of their valuables.

The police would never come to people's homes to take care of and "secure" their valuables.

If you are called by people claiming they will come to your home or that of your relative – call the police. 

However, we want to emphasize that the police can come out to victims to conduct investigative measures after a report has been made. If you are unsure if it is really the police knocking on the door, you can ask the patrol to identify themselves.
