According to initial reports, two people have been injured, one of whom is complaining of pain in their legs. It is unclear whether the elk is still present at the scene or not.

Emergency services, ambulance, and police have been dispatched to the scene.

UPDATE 15:27. The road is closed to traffic northbound while traffic southbound can pass the scene at reduced speed.

The elk, which likely broke a leg, has run into the woods, and trackers will be called to the scene.
