Several cases of elderly fraud attempts.

Under the day, at least two attempts at fraud, known as physical vishing, have been directed at elderly people in Norrköping.

The modus operandi in the frauds can vary slightly, but in the current cases, the scammers have claimed to be calling from the police. They have mentioned fabricated burglaries in the immediate area and then asked about gold and valuables. Then they said they would come to the home visit to "help".

The affected individuals have in these cases done entirely the right thing, namely contacting the police via 112 immediately after the phone call and thus not losing any valuables. Unfortunately, there are many examples of earlier cases where the scammers have managed to get their hands on valuables.

The police want to warn about this and emphasize that it is very important to follow the police's advice on contacting foreign persons.

- The police never ask about valuables. If someone calls and does that, hang up!

- Never call the number given in an SMS. Instead, call the company's central switchboard and ask if they have tried to contact you.

- Do not open the door for strangers.

- Never leave out bank cards, codes, or bank IDs.

- Never send money on someone else's request.

- Be aware that the scammer can claim to be from a company, but also from an insurance company or authorities such as the police. If you are the slightest unsure: call and check.
