A woman contacts the police and reports that she has been assaulted in a residential building in central Västerås.

When patrol units arrive, they find a woman with head injuries and an ambulance is called to the scene to care for the injured person. The woman is allowed to accompany the ambulance for further care, unclear extent of injuries.

A person, a man in his 40s, is arrested in the residential building where the assault is believed to have occurred. The police also secure evidence and a bottle is seized that is suspected to have been used in the assault.

The man is taken to the station for questioning pending contact with the prosecutor's office.

It is currently unclear what relationship the parties have to each other.
