After a call to SOS Alarm, the police suspected that a man might be located in one of the mines in Dannemora.

Police, ambulance, and rescue services were ordered to the scene.

About an hour before midnight, the man, who is in his 50s, was found lifeless after a longer search by the rescue services. The man was pronounced dead on the scene by doctors. Relatives have been informed.

The police suspect no crime in connection with the death.
