Elderly woman targeted for fraud attempts.

A 95-year-old woman on Södermalm has received calls from individuals claiming to be police officers and said they would come to her home. The police go to the woman's home to talk to her and a report is written about an attempted fraud and pretence of a public office.

Telephone fraud can lead to theft at home

Telephone fraud can also lead to theft at home, known as physical vishing. It may happen that the scammer claims that someone needs to come to your home to secure your valuables or codes. Instead, you will be robbed of money, valuables, and credit cards.

This is how you can protect yourself

If you are unexpectedly contacted via phone call, SMS, or email, stop, don't act, hang up the phone. Then ask someone you trust - a neighbor, a friend, a family member for advice.

Do not identify yourself with bank-ID or give out your codes when someone else has contacted you.

Do not let an unknown person into your home. Serious companies, organizations, and authorities will never come to your home to collect your cash, jewelry, or other valuables.

Do not be afraid to appear suspicious or rude, dare to end the conversation.

If you are a victim of fraud, contact the police and if it is ongoing, call 112, otherwise call 114 14.
