A man hits a woman he previously had a relationship with inside a restaurant. Witnesses intervene to break up the ongoing situation. The man then takes a weapon and assaults one of the people who intervened by hitting several blows to the head.  

When the police and ambulance arrive at the scene, the suspected man has left. The person who intervened and was hit in the head with a weapon is taken to the hospital by ambulance. 

The suspected man is apprehended in his vehicle near the restaurant. 

A report of attempted murder and assault is drawn up. 

The restaurant is cordoned off for technical examination and witnesses are questioned.
