Information to the public after several residential burglaries.
After the midsummer holiday, three completed apartment break-ins have been discovered in central Jönköping. It is somewhat unclear exactly when these occurred, but it appears that the thieves struck just under the holiday when people were away.
The police are currently working on, among other things, an investigation to see if there are any traces that directly link these break-ins to each other. During the inventory of what was seized, it generally appears that the perpetrators were after jewelry and cash – that is, goods that are easy to sell.
At present, no one has been apprehended who can be considered a suspect, but the police are working to prevent a possible crime series. We will not currently discuss detailed forensic evidence or similar that is important for the ongoing investigation.
Below are a few tips to make it harder for the thief:
If you come home and notice that you have been the victim of a break-in, it is of utmost importance that you DO NOT clean the apartment or move things around among furniture and other items before the police have had a chance to perform a technical examination.
Be careful with your belongings – and be reasonable when you leave your home!
