Fake police officers call elderly people to scam them out of money.

The police on Gotland have taken up several reports of scams against the elderly in recent times. It is mainly about completed crimes where tens of thousands of kronor have disappeared, but also about a few individual attempts at scamming.

Common to the scams is that the scammer pretends to be a police officer when they call the victims. During the call, the police logo is also visible in the victims' telephones.
By frightening and stressing the victims with the claim that someone has made purchases with the victims' accounts, the victims are led to log in with bank-id and make various types of transactions, and in this way, the victims' accounts have been drained of money.

  • Never log in with bank-id on the urging of someone who has called you
  • The police never call people and ask them to log in and transfer money
  • When the police call, no police logo is visible on the phone
