The regional management center receives a number of calls from residents and the general public who are located in central Halmstad during Sunday evening.  The elk is perceived as stressed and poses a threat to motorists and pedestrians who come near the elk.

At 22:07, the elk is shot by hunters after a decision by the Police Authority. The elk is then located on a playground near Hallands Hospital (Halmstad)

 Section 9 of the Hunting Act. If a wild animal causes significant damage or is considered to pose a threat to human safety, the Police Authority may allow the animal to be killed, if there is no other satisfactory solution.
