Trapped snake found in nature.
On Sunday, a man in Mjölby found a box in the woods. It was closed and had holes for air. In the box, there was what is believed to be a boa constrictor.
After internal investigation measures at the police on what opportunities there are to take care of the snake, it was found that it is the County Administrative Board's task to take care of the animal in question, which has also been done.
Already last summer, loose snakes of foreign species to Swedish fauna were found in southern Sweden. Further, there was a report as late as last week about a similar snake in Linköping's southern parts. However, it was not in a box and has not been seen again.
The snakes are doing well in the summer heat but not in the autumn cold. Releasing foreign snakes into nature can be considered a crime against animal welfare law or animal cruelty.
