Reports came in about an 80-year-old woman who received an SMS from someone claiming to be her child. In the SMS, it was stated that the child was in need of money, and she subsequently sent it.

The police were dispatched to the scene and a report of fraud was filed.

The police want to remind people to be cautious when contacted by unknown individuals. Don't hesitate to hang up the phone or verify who actually sent the messages.
