Reports of fraud.
Phone calls were received at 22.55 about a 95-year-old woman who was called by someone claiming to be from the police. The person is said to have told the woman to gather her jewelry, but the scam had been interrupted. A report of attempted fraud was made.
The next phone call was received at 23.00, a 85-year-old woman had then received a visit from someone who claimed to be from the police. The person had taken the gold jewelry with them. In this case, a report of fraud was made.
The police want to remind people that if they are called by someone and suspect a crime, they should hang up and call the police on 112. Further advice to avoid being victims of crimes is not to let unknown people into the home, and not to give out codes or log in to bank-id on the urging of an unknown person.
