Phone calls were received at 15.48 about a 90-year-old woman in Uppsala who was called by someone claiming to be a relative. The person asked the woman to gather jewelry and valuable items, which the person said they would take care of. The call was then ended and the police were alerted and dispatched. A report of attempted fraud was filed.
The next phone call was received at 16.29 from another 90-year-old woman in Uppsala. The woman had been called by someone claiming to be from an insurance company, and she had then been visited and tricked into handing over jewelry. The police were dispatched to the scene and a report of fraud was filed.
The police want to remind people that if they are called by someone and suspect that it is a crime, they should hang up and call the police on 112. Further advice to avoid being a victim of a crime is not to let unknown people into the home, and not to give out codes or log in to bank-ID on the instructions of an unknown person.
